The khanacross on March 15 was transferred to SEAC Park because of the dry conditions and the dust problem at the showgrounds. As it turned out the rain on Saturday night meant there may not have been a problem. However there was obviously less rain at SEAC as apart from a couple of puddles the track was good. Unfortunately, one puddle was unavoidable and was a bit messy for the driver of a special. Metho now understands why I don?t nominate my car until I see what the weather is like.
17 people started the event and all finished. The autocross track was used extensively with a few little crossovers to make some hairpins and tricky corners. Our Millicent fathers decided to get into the action to prove that the kids weren?t the hotshots that they thought they were. A good plan but sometimes the best laid plans come unstuck. Belinda has the bragging rights in the Spinks? household due to dad getting a bit too confident and beaching the Datsun where he shouldn?t have been. In the Paltridge camp the results were a bit different with Dad finishing ahead of Cameron. I hope the fathers? continue on competing as it injects a bit of life into the event.
Metho was the eventual winner but was pushed hard by the Wilsons. Damien came second (In Phil?s car) due to Phil becoming too affectionate with some cones. Paul Heenan came in third in a Honda. Mick Cooper must have been enjoying himself if the grin he was wearing was any indication. The competitors appeared to enjoy themselves and the pleasant weather helped a lot. Thanks to all those people who helped in various ways, without you it just wouldn't happen. Bob Byham.
