First up as director for the Autocross Come and Try day combined with the first competitive hit out, I would like to congratulate Paul Heenan and crew for the way the track was prepared. From the first round to the last, the track was excellent, proven by the fastest time being recorded on the last round of the day.

To all the officials, stewards and volunteers, again a big thank you, you made my job so easy. Well Done. We had quite a few new attend to Come and Try, plus a few old faces who had a go as well. It looks as though we will see some new competitors in the near future.

Competition started with times being lowered with each progressive round as drivers got used to the fast track. Congratulations to all competitors on their results. A hearty congratulations to the new drivers who competed in their first event of this type. It won’t be long before you will be putting pressure on the big boys at the top. I’d also like to send a sincere thank you to the drivers who made their cars available for the Come and Try component.

Our own "Sir Bob Byham" showed us how to put on a spectacular exhibition of precision driving, resulting in becoming a claimant for the Rollover Award. A special thank you as well, to the caravan girls for the hot foods which were available all day. It was good to see so many spectators in attendance, some old faces turned up for a look.

There has been interest shown in reviving the Ladies Class at Autocross. We have three already, so any wives, partners or friends, please contact the office so we can organise it.
I had a ball, so members don’t be afraid to put your hand up and have a go at directing or helping out. Regards Tom Telford
